Dr.
Jose L. Armstrong was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He
practices Internal Medicine and Pain Management, focusing
on the use of acupuncture in the management of medical
conditions. He received his medical degree from The
Ponce School Of Medicine in 1986 and after completing
his specialty training at Damas Hospital in Ponce, P.R.
and two years as Chief Medical Resident, he came to
North Carolina. Soon after, he developed his practice
to focus in general medicine and pharmacotherapy for
chronic pain. In 1994 he graduated from the Helms Medical
Acupuncture for Physicians course and started using
acupuncture progressively as the core of his practice.
He has taught with the Medical Acupuncture For Physicians
course since 1996. In 1997 he founded Carolina Healthcare
Providers, one of the first and most complete multidisciplinary
/ integrated medicine clinics in North Carolina. |
Currently,
Dr. Armstrong's practice is 90% Medical Acupuncture. He is
the Governor's Medical Appointee to the North Carolina Acupuncture
Licensing Board. He is a member of the American Academy of
Medical Acupuncture and the American Academy of Pain Management.
He finds great enjoyment in teaching Medical Acupuncture to
physicians that want to make a professional life change decision
of including acupuncture to make their medical practices more
complete, humane and fulfilling. He sees Medical Acupuncture
not only as a science but as a medical artform. The UNC
Integrative Medicine Department consulted Dr. Armstrong in
its early years of formation. He has provided consultation
services for many similar practices in the state.
